Support

Support from the public is what keeps our local volunteer fire department alive. Volunteers are hard to find and harder to keep. We need volunteers in many different fashions. We need fire fighters (men or women), EMTs and First Responders to help our community until the ambulance arrives, workers for the raffles and chili fest, mechanics to keep our vehicles maintained, people to keep the building painted and structurally maintained. It takes thousands of man/woman hours to keep our fire department going.

If any of the following sounds like something you would like to do, please call and leave a message and we will get back to you.

FIRE FIGHTERS – Fire Fighters are always in short demand.  If you would like to become a fire fighter you can call for information on taking courses and becoming one.

EMTS – We have one active EMT at the moment and really need  more.  Classes are long and hard and there is about 140 hours of training and classes to take. If you become a member and would like to be an EMT, the VFD will pay for your classes.

FIRST RESPONDERS –  First responders are very important too. The classes for becoming a first responder are not as long or hard as the EMT classes.  The VFD will also pay for these classes if you are a member of the VFD.

MECHANICS –  If you are a mechanic and would like to volunteer your time to do periodic maintenance checks on the trucks, you would be a very important asset to our VFD. If you are interested please give us a call.

BUILDING REPAIRS –  Our building is in need of painting and general maintenance upkeep, if you would be willing to donate some of your time to work on the building, we would love to talk to you about work needing done.

SPRING AND FALL GUN RAFFLE WORKERS – We need people to help set up and tear down, we need  floor ticket and bingo ticket sellers, kitchen workers, t-shirt sellers, and helpers to assist workers.

CHILI FEST WORKERS – We need people to help set up and tear down, kitchen workers, bingo ticket sellers, someone to sell baked goods, someone to pick up all the donations from stores and restaurants, someone to put fliers out, someone to call for donations and helpers for general work.

GUN TICKET SELLERS NEEDED. We need ticket sellers for both the spring and fall raffles.  Ticket sellers get one free ticket for the gun sellers drawing for every five tickets they sell.  Contact the Cherry Grove VFD if you would like to become a gun ticket seller.

DUES –  Dues are an important way to support our VFD, Please remember to pay your dues.  Dues money goes towards our upkeep too and is much needed.

If you feel you have an asset that would be valuable to our VFD and it is not listed above, please call and let us know what you can do to help. Any assistance would be much appreciated.  814-968-3511
